2022.01.18 14:35 isLonerism The whole BSP vs Static Mesh kerfuffle
I've been using ue5 for about a month how having previously worked quite a lot with the source engine. One thing I still cant seem to wrap my head around is the whole static mesh vs bsp idea.
Now I do realise that bsp brushes are made for simple geometry and are not for production use due to their inefficiency in high amounts. I do realise that static meshes have more functionality over brushes. What I so not seem to get is how I am meant to work efficiently with static meshes.
Let's say I have a simplistic level design - mostly walls and elevations with some walls being angled. At first I sketch the whole level out of brushes to get some basic geometry and put materials on them. These brushes do not require further editing (as in converting them to static meshes and exporting them to a modelling program).
Am I now supposed to just convert each bsp brush to a static mesh manually? Is my content folder for the level should comprise out of sm_wall_9999 static mesh files? In case I do need to change geometry around (even as tiny a change as making a wall higher), am I supposed to delete the related static mesh from the content browser, create the new brush, put materials on it, convert to static mesh and pray that I won't need to edit anything else in the future?
If my assumptions are correct, this seems like a whole lot of work to rescale a wall.
I would like some help with this because I would love to keep working with the engine, but this whole ordeal sounds ridiculous.

We're in the early stages of building an in law. One architect said 150 per sqft and one says 450. I know everything is affected by COVID and prices are high but that seems like a really wide range. Any insight appreciated

2022.01.18 14:35 stargirlexe Question/ Is this a symptom? What is happening
So is it just me or do you guys just feel really out of energy the day after a shift attempt? Today I was so down for no/some reason, I have no clue as to why. And then I had some really bad intrusive thoughts and it just made me feel worse. But I figured it out. But for some reason my whole consciousness for the whole days been like I don't even want to shift anymore and stuff along those lines, I do really wanna shift. Is this normal?

2022.01.18 14:35 SimplyVanillaSMP Simply-Vanilla SMP [1.18.1] [SMP] [Survival] [Hermitcraft-style] A 1.18.1 take on the classic minecraft multiplayer experience!
Dynmap - http://188.8.131.52:8123/
Discord - https://discord.gg/7z3gGZbMm3
Simply Vanilla is an SMP that tries to break the overdone style of SMP. It seems now that every SMP is using over the top plugins, data packs and rules that completely break the classic vanilla progression. For that reason I decided to create the Simply-Vanilla SMP, we use minimal plugins and data packs and strive for a community-driven experience, similar to that of early hermitcraft/classic Minecraft multiplayer.
Our target community: We are looking to continue growing our community with mature players. We are accepting of anyone and everyone, regardless of who or where you are we are excited for you to join. We already have a well built, friendly community, however, we are very accepting of any new players and are excited to meet anyone interested. Server software and hardware: The server is running on a fork of paper called pufferfish, this helps to provide an incredibly stable and high-performance experience whilst keeping the core gameplay the same. On top of pufferfish we run some minimal plugins to aid administration and dynmap to allow players to see an overview of the map. Additionally, we have the double shulker shells data pack to stop the end from being depleted. Finally, we use coreprotect and a daily backup to google drive to ensure that all your progress is safe. The server runs on a dedicated host in the cloud, allowing 100% uptime and high performance even at higher player counts.
To conclude: If you're interested in our server then feel free to join the discord and apply for the whitelist, I generally get time to go through applications once or twice a day, but feel free to interact with members in the discord, I hope to see you in the server and thanks for your interest.

2022.01.18 14:35 gowonagin Did you have an autoimmune disease before getting long haul Covid?
Like others, I think long haul Covid may be an autoimmune and/or allergic reaction to the spike protein (or leftover bits of it) binding to ACE2 receptors throughout the body, with inflammation that wreaks havoc. Having been through (likely) both, I think bad vaccine reactions are probably caused by the same thing (and I'm not the only one), so what makes some people have these conditions and others not?
Certain people may be more prone to it than others, and I have a hypothesis (that others have probably also come up with) that you're more likely to get long haul Covid and/or vaccine long haul if you've had autoimmune diseases before, because your system is so fired up from the spike protein it's now attacking itself (again?) Autoantibodies could've been present before Covid/the vaccine and/or could've been created after, leading to even more autoimmune diseases than what might have been present before.
So, I have a poll. Feel free to comment any details, especially since you can't check more than one box in Reddit polls if you need to.
Known autoimmune diseases include Type 1 diabetes, asthma, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Sjögren’s syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus (Lupus, SLE), Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Addison’s disease, dermatomyositis, psoriasis, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), Guillain-Barre syndrome, multiple sclerosis (MS), myasthenia gravis, vasculitis, vitiligo, rheumatic fever, alopecia areata, pernicious anemia/atrophic gastritis, immune thrombocytopenic purpura, autoimmune myocarditis, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) / myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), eczema, endometriosis, Kawasaki disease, Lyme disease, Ménière’s disease, Raynaud’s syndrome, small fiber sensory neuropathy, and much more.
However, there is increasing evidence that certain mental illnesses are also autoimmune diseases, and/or have strong links to them. These include depression, anorexia and bulimia nervosa, certain psychotic disorders, autism, a subset of OCD, and ADHD.
Autoimmune diseases have been on the rise, and since genes haven't changed all that much in the past 30 years, environmental and lifestyle changes are believed to be the reason. Theories include more children being born by C-section (such as myself), exposure to different things at birth than previous generations, environmental chemicals, and more.
Because all these conditions, physical and mental, are inflammatory, things that bring down inflammation have tended to help them, like ibuprofen, anti-inflammatory diets, serrapeptase, antivirals that may attack leftover virus bits, and more. Often, people with autoimmune diseases may be on immunosuppressants for them.
Backstory: although I was never diagnosed with an autoimmune disease before, I did have awful menstrual cramps (endometriosis maybe?), depression, and depersonalization disorder starting in middle school. In my 20s, I wanted to lose weight, so went on a low-carb diet (which happened to eliminate most inflammatory foods). I lost the weight, but by happy coincidence, the other things went away, too. Until I ate some junk foods again, and they came back. I researched more why that happened.
In March 2020 and a few months after, I had possible undiagnosed long haul Covid. In April 2021, I had a terrible reaction to my first Pfizer shot and never got the others. In late Novembeearly December 2021, I had what I thought was a cold until my left arm started tingling again, just like it did in my vaccine reaction. Got tested, and it was Covid. It's as if my immune system "remembered" to attack the virus, but also "remembered" to attack my same nerves again. This strongly suggested to me something autoimmune was going on.
Each time one of the above events happened, I went back on that anti-inflammatory keto/paleo/low-carb diet, and the situation improved. That's another reason why I think they're linked, because part of this "discovery" was by accident. I didn't expect it.
